CONDUCTING
MASTERCLASSES
& COACHING

Luis Miguel Clemente is an experienced conducting educator whose teaching brings together technical rigour, musical understanding and the development of each conductor’s individual artistic voice.

Drawing on his international experience as a conductor, educator and researcher, he works with emerging and established conductors through orchestral masterclasses, conducting academies and individual coaching. His approach encourages a close relationship between musical thought, expressive gesture and orchestral sound, combining careful preparation with imagination, spontaneity and creative dialogue

THE ART OF

EXPRESSIVE

CONDUCTING

At the centre of Clemente’s teaching is the conviction that conducting technique must emerge from musical understanding. Gesture, physical awareness and communication with the orchestra are explored as essential elements of interpretation, enabling conductors to express musical ideas with clarity, precision and freedom.

His pedagogical approach draws on the Musin–Metters conducting tradition, his doctoral research into Carlos Kleiber’s conducting technique and his experience working with orchestras across different musical and cultural settings. Particular attention is given to the relationship between score analysis, musical imagination, expressive movement and the conductor’s interaction with musicians.

Through a combination of technical guidance, interpretative discussion and practical work, Clemente encourages each conductor to develop a personal approach to music-making, grounded in knowledge, artistic independence and attentive listening.
