Artistic
Vision
Artistic programming is an act of interpretation and discovery. Beyond the selection of individual works, it creates meaningful connections between composers, musical traditions and historical contexts, bringing familiar repertoire into dialogue with lesser-known music and inviting audiences to discover new perspectives, experiences and ways of listening.
Artistic Director & Principal Conductor
ORQUESTRA DA
COSTA ATLÂNTICA
Since 2015, Luis Miguel Clemente has been Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquestra da Costa Atlântica (OCA), based in Esposende, Portugal.
Under his direction, the orchestra has developed a distinctive artistic identity, bringing Portuguese musical heritage into dialogue with international traditions and offering fresh perspectives on the orchestral repertoire through imaginative programming that combines established masterpieces, overlooked composers and contemporary creation.
FROM VISION TO PRACTICE
Under Clemente’s artistic direction, the Orquestra da Costa Atlântica has developed an approach to programming that brings musical performance into dialogue with history, cultural identity and contemporary society. Established masterpieces share the stage with overlooked composers and lesser-known works, inviting audiences to discover new connections across musical traditions and historical periods.
This vision extends beyond the orchestral repertoire, embracing chamber music, contemporary creation, education and community engagement. Through complementary seasons, new commissions and projects developed across different regions of Portugal, Clemente seeks to connect artistic discovery with meaningful opportunities for musical participation.
